Last month, we celebrated my daughter’s 3rd birthday in style at Stomping Grounds Play Cafe in Caledonia, and it was an absolute hit! From the personalized decorations to the themed snacks and the delightful play space, renting out this cozy cafe for her birthday was an unforgettable experience.

We could decorate the cafe according to my daughter’s favorite theme, Minnie Mouse, complete with lots of balloons, a stunning balloon arch, and colorful streamers hanging below the large playhouse in the play area. We incorporated unicorn-inspired treats into the mix to add an extra touch of whimsy. Who can resist a sprinkle of magic? It felt like a magical wonderland for my little one and her friends.
Since we were renting out the space for an event, we could bring our food. We treated the little ones to a spread of toddler-friendly delights, including mini corn dogs, a vibrant fruit platter, popcorn, and adorable birthday cake pops. We decided to assemble the food ourselves, but a convenient pizza parlor is a few doors down for simplicity!
But what sets Stomping Grounds Play Cafe apart is its thoughtful layout and amenities. The cafe is designed with young children in mind, featuring an enclosed play space with a large two-story playhouse as the centerpiece. Surrounding the playhouse are various floor activities, including climbing structures, wooden toys, and a designated area for smaller infants, complete with sensory toys and soft mats for safe play.

The cafe also provides a small kitchen area with a sink, fridge, and freezer, making it easy to set up food and dessert for the party.

The cafe sanitizes before every private event and after every play session, ensuring a clean and safe environment for children to play. Whether they’re experiencing sensory overload or navigating a disagreement with a friend, the Zen Den offers a safe, private space. Stocked with gentle sensory toys and comforting knick-knacks, it’s designed to soothe and support young minds needing a peaceful retreat.

Co-owned by Jennifer Romain and Amanda Texter, both moms of young children, Montessori and Waldorf principles inspire Stomping Grounds and offer a variety of activities that stimulate creativity, gross motor skills, and socialization.
