Mac DeMarco Visits Seattle During Tour – Itty Bitty Atlas

Mac DeMarco

Mac DeMarco recently made a stop in Seattle during his tour in support of his latest album “Here Comes the Cowboy.” You may say his music is the type that you’d want to put on when you’re in a chill mood, perhaps assisted by certain herbal supplements as your day winds down. But his work is more than the over simplistic moniker “slacker rock” would imply.

Mac DeMarco

With this tour in support of his latest album he adopts the many hats of writer, guitar player, pianist, drummer, producer, mixer, and of course, cowboy, to complete his album.

But onstage he is not without help. With a band totally in synch with his musical sensibilities and humor, seeing DeMarco live is an incredibly uplifting time. His band delivers not just their exceptional musical abilities, but a truly fun show to experience as well.

Mac DeMarco

Mac’s distinct guitar sound takes the center stage metaphorically and lyrically, but his unique sandpapery vocals on top are both unlike any musician since Bob Dylan and yet perfectly suited to his everyday observational lyrics.

Mac DeMarco

Regardless of what you think of his music, you can’t deny Mac knows how to perform on stage. He has a stupendous stage presence and is sure to never take himself too seriously, frequently adopting an overly low growly voice to introduce songs, or including humorous anecdotes between them. His band members joined in on the fun too, relating their opinions on the local food and scenery.

Their wonderful set included many of the new album’s cuts, but was also full of his classic tracks that the enraptured audience took no prompt to sing along to. That’s the other ingredient a Mac DeMarco show is sure to include, a distinct vibe within the audience of a community enjoying the night together.

So out of all the music shows playing near you, Mac is without a doubt the best option to go with. His ‘make-yourself-at-home’ attitude along with the conversational humor puts everybody present at ease, and that atmosphere is sure to deliver a fun time.

Oh, and the music’s pretty dang good, too. The Salad Days aren’t gone for this cowboy yet, so if he’s playing anywhere near you, his show is where you’ll want to spend that evening.
