Located on buzzing and artsy East Burnside Street, the Jupiter NEXT is a lovely 67 room boutique hotel just minutes from downtown Portland.
Adjacent to the motor lodge, Jupiter Hotel, the NEXT is a out of the box hotel that focuses on community, design, art and creativity. The edgy, forward-thinking vibe makes it the ideal spot for Portland visitors and even locals.
The hotel may be small, but it still offers plenty for hanging out. The lobby is set in a lounge type atmosphere, and thanks to their tenants, Hey Love, this bar/restaurant allows for plenty of enjoyment well into the night hours. Don’t worry about the noise though, as we didn’t hear a peep once we entered our room.
In addition to the lobby area, there is a 2nd floor event space and a 5th floor party deck.
Upon entering our room, we were amazed by the style design and views. The NEXT has a variety of different styles of rooms based on your party size. We stayed in the X, which included a queen size bed, that sat against a beautiful muraled headboard by Portland collagist Beth Kerschen.
The room seemed larger than most normal hotel rooms and I think the use of sleek design contributed to that. The bathroom was designed in a tinted glass-cube shape with a walk in shower. The use of no wall, definitely saved space and made the room look more unique and even larger.
As for the views, you’ll have to see it for yourself. The room boasts wide windows which showcase the very best views of downtown Portland.
The room also includes basic needs such as a mini fridge, 55-inch flat screen tv, wifi and even a handy little digital concierge deck.
Although the rooms are non-smoking they do have small patios where smoking is allowed on each floor. Traveling with pets? No problem! Bring fido along, because both the NEXT and original Jupiter Hotel offer pet-friendly accommodations!
The NEXT doesn’t have its own dedicated parking lot for guests, which can be a little frustrating if you are arriving in the peek evening hour, but there is plentiful of street parking, and you’ll be sure to find something even if it’s a block away. The hotel does offer paid valet offerings for those who prefer that route.
In conclusion, the Jupiter NEXT will be our Portland getaway go-to hotel. I definitely love the Burnside area and always find myself either picking up a box of Voodoo Doughnuts or grabbing coffee at Grendel’s Coffee Shop.
So, if you are in Portland looking for a buzzing time, the NEXT has you covered and will keep it pumping all night long.
