Hyatt Regency LAX

After four solid days of attending the TCM Classic Film Festival we were pretty exhausted, but due to flight times, we didn’t fly out until early the next morning, and as much as I don’t exactly enjoy those basic style airport hotels, they usually get the job done.

I recently heard about the new Hyatt Regency LAX location, just walking distance from Terminal 1. They say on their website that they are not your ‘ordinary airport hotel.’ So, we figured we’d give them a shot.

Sitting on West Century Boulevard and offering extraordinary luxury, unlike most airport hotels, the Hyatt Regency was both located perfectly and an impressive sight to see. The fact that the building is new is reflected in the size and decor of the hotel, which boldly proclaims itself as modern and upgraded.

The large rooms were impressive enough, and popped with color! Our room included a king bed, lounger couch and a table with two bright yellow chairs. On the outer wall is a large window overlooking the LAX runways which looks fantastic at night, and on the other wall is a large flat screen television with cable, for that before bed entertainment.

What I hate most about airport hotels is the noise. However, given the proximity of the airport, the soundproofing in our rooms was spectacular. We never heard a single plane while in our room during our stay, and that’s important when you need a good night’s sleep before an early flight.Hyatt Regency LAX

The property is large and makes exploring the hotel an adventure. The high ceilings of the lobby keep the large scale in mind, and at 12 floors it’s easily one of the taller buildings around. The hotel features most of Hyatt Regency offerings, like the Business Center, Fitness Club and Regency Club where you can enjoy complimentary breakfast, snacks, and desserts.Hyatt Regency LAX

Lastly, once you venture outside, you’ll see the outdoor courtyard area with comfy chairs for relaxing, but on a typical sunny California day you’ll be unable to resist the pool. The large outdoor pool includes a magnificent front row view of the LAX runway and has a variety of chairs and cabanas for guests use.

As the property states, it is definitely ‘not your ordinary airport hotel’ and left us feeling relaxed, and ready for our next adventure. They also have a wonderful restaurant, the unity la that is located right in the lobby and offers grab-and-go meals and sit down service.

Adjacent to the lobby of the Hyatt Regency, the unity la restaurant is pure hunger satisfaction. The menu may be small, but this digs goes for the old adage “quality over quantity.” Serving both breakfast, lunch and dinner, it’s the place to grab some grub any time of the day.

Every item is worth a try, but you can’t deny the delectability of the steak. If seafood is more up your alley, there are several ocean based dishes to try. The starter shrimp ceviche tostada was a treat, but their drunken noodles is a unique twist on asian noodles and go fantastic with some meat additions, including shrimp and chicken.Hyatt Regency LAX

Dessert might be the show stealer, though. The chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup was a perfect way to end the evening and the cheesecake is a personal favorite of ours, and combined with the strawberry sauce it was hard to put down.
