The first leg of our English odyssey took us up north to Liverpool. While there’s a wealth of hotels to choose to stay in, Base Apartments Liverpool served our needs as a great place to crash for the night and a central location within walking distance of anywhere we needed to go.
The organization has four locations in the Liverpool area, and our lodgings were on the Cumberland Street site, which is probably the closest to nearby bars and clubs. We stayed in a one bedroom flat, and even though it only had one bedroom, it was super spacious and could probably fit more if needed.
Upon exiting our train at the famous Lime Street station, it was a quick fifteen minute walk through the historic streets to the Base Apartments Duke Street headquarters, where we picked up our keys and got all the helpful information needed about the area and maps from their superb staff.
Then it was another fifteen minute walk to our Cumberland Street residence, which took us through the impressive local shopping mall, Liverpool ONE.
The accommodations are perfect to make it feel like a home away from home. The bedroom has a queen bed and a small closet wardrobe available with extra sheets, pillows and towers. Plus, lots of room and hangers if your clothes need organizing.
But if lounging on the bed isn’t enough for you, there’s a living quarters in the next room with a snug couch, and flat screen tv with all the British programming an American could dream of. wifi is included, so you never have to feel cut off in the event of having no cell service while abroad from the states. The room is also open to a full kitchen with all the fixings, so you don’t always need to eat out during your stay.
The bathroom is quite fancy. The full bath has a large tub, and a heated bar to place your wet towels on so that they’re warm and dry quickly. They’re a neat feature we haven’t seen in America!
After a restful sleep the first night, we took a grand tour of all the city sights, like the Beatles Story, Albert Docks, and the famous Cavern Club! We pushed the Cavern Club visit till the evening when the entertainment got rocking. After spending several hours at the club, we left around 1 am in the morning, and it was only a short 5 minute walk back to our bed.
With a central location very close to the lively nightlife of Liverpool, and agreeable digs like these, Base Apartments brings everything you need to fully relish your time in this great city. Just be sure to bring some earplugs for sleeping, the local clubs are nearby and can get quite noisy late into the night.
