Luxury and comfort await all who stay at Thompson Seattle Hotel. There’s no hotel that looks, feels, or satisfies quite like Thompson, and you only need to look at it to understand the appeal. Contemporary architecture, top notch service and a location that can’t be topped make for the ideal place to stay in downtown Seattle.
Driving up to Thompson, your eye will immediately be drawn to the staggered floor style of the exterior, almost looking like a haphazard stack of gigantic books. This sleek, modern look is reinforced in the interior, with a minimalist decoration theme, large windows, and stylized art on the walls of the rooms. Also, because it’s the Christmas season, the lobby had a lovely Christmas tree next to the large front windows.
A valet service is offered at the front door, so you don’t need to park or retrieve your vehicle yourself. Coffee and tea are available in the lobby every morning, and the building is even pet friendly. Plus, enjoy complimentary wifi to ensures you’re connected for the duration of your stay.
Upon checking in, you get a good look at what a stay looks like. Champagne is offered to all new guests to make you feel welcome and high class, and that’s reflected by the courteous staff and sleek design of the hotel.
There are various room designs that can fit the size of your party. The two queen beds allow split duos or families to retire in the same room together, while the king bed room is perfect for either solo guests or couples. Either way, the rooms are outfitted with a tv, wardrobe, comfy chair, minibar, and a large bathroom so that you’ll never need to leave the room to obtain what you need.
If you’re interested in having a view, there are options for rooms that have one of the city or one of Elliot Bay. The Thompson suites are pricier, but has the room to make it worth it, and is perfectly positioned on the corner of the building to offer views of the city and the water simultaneously.
Speaking of, the location is just blocks from the waterfront. Being just a few minutes walk away from Pike Place Market, Westlake Mall, the light rail station, the Showbox, the Cinerama theater, Benaroya Hall, and if you’re willing to walk a little longer, the Space Needle, there’s hardly a better place for both natives and tourists to stay to get a good look at what makes Seattle tick.
There’s numerous restaurants in the area too, but Thompson’s has you covered there as well. Down on the ground floor next to the lobby is their specialty restaurant, ‘Conversation.’ The name refers to the staff’s requests to the patrons that they put away their electronic devices and engage with each other. A nice sentiment! There’s even a small conversation starter card in the back of the menu for those that need a little push.
And that’s before you try their food, which is a delight. Snack with charcuterie if you like, or open the meal with a hearty salad or squash soup. If you like seafood — oysters, clams, mussels, and more are available.
We loved the mad hatcher chicken, with its moist insides and pine nut mash on the side. A full bar is available to serve up your favorite cocktail, but if you need some fresh air too, there’s the rooftop bar The Nest to cater to your drinking desires. Be sure to check out The Nest’s event schedule to see what’s happening.
Leaving other hotels in the dust in all categories, Thompson Seattle, a Hyatt property offers everything you need in a hotel stay. We had a great experience with the extremely comfortable room, high class treatment, delicious food, prime location, and couldn’t recommend it enough.
