Sublime with Rome Summer Tour Gets Hot

Sublime with Rome Summer Tour

Now that the summer solstice date has come and gone, the days will soon start getting noticeably longer and hotter. With summer here, it was only appropriate to kick off the season with a band synonymous with it: Sublime with Rome summer tour!

Any radio listener from the 90’s remembers their hit tracks, like ‘What I Got,’ ‘Doin’ Time,’ and ‘April 29, 1992 (Miami).’ After the tragic death of their lead singer Bradley Nowell, the band split in tribute to their fallen friend. However, in 2009 they reconvened with the addition of Rome Ramirez on guitar and vocals, and haven’t looked back since.

The band is known for their ska beats and mix of singing and rapping vocals. The theme was established early with opening acts Common Kings and SOJA, similarly themed bands who mix ska, reggae, punk, hip hop and brass band sounds to create wholly unique music. Taking the stage with gusto and energy, their set was evenly sprinkled with old classics and tracks from their newest album.

The concert was predominantly packed with adults who were around in the 90’s when Sublime was at their peak, but many brought children to join in on the fun. Many were visibly into the music too, so aside from some stray marijuana smokers it was a good time for the whole family.

Held in Marymoor Park, the venue is a superb spot for hosting musical events in the summer. Expansive parking makes getting in and out with a vehicle an easy feat, and the equally expansive grass around the stage makes for a warm evening sitting on the ground in the park. Just be sure to bring a blanket or chair!

Along with the coming of the summer season, this show was in part of Sublime With Rome’s summer tour that will last through September and include two dozen stops across the US. Additionally their latest album ‘Blessings’ just dropped a month ago, so give it a listen to get the summer started!
