Growing up in the nineties I’ve always enjoyed using film cameras and Polaroid always had my heart. When I heard about the new Polaroid Lab, I was very excited to test it all out and transform digital phone images into real Polaroid pictures!
I was very curious on the engineering of how it works and once I unboxed it I started to understand. The idea behind the Polaroid Lab is quite simple, it uses a 3-lens system to project the image from your phone — sort of like a movie screen — and exposes it on the Polaroid picture frame.
So, how does it work? Well, I’ll admit there is quite a bit of settings that make it a little difficult to grasp. I’m still trying to find the perfect setting to make my photos pop and have that original Polaroid finish.
The first thing you’ll want to do is download the “Polaroid Originals” app on your smartphone and follow the directions to sync your Lab. This part is quite simple and takes only a few minutes.
The design of the Polaroid Lab looks great! It’s sleek and sits nicely on your desk without taking up too much space. I love the white color of the base, as it matches a lot of our white decor — the black neck blends right in and even offers a plastic cover to the screen.
Once you’re done syncing your phone, you want to choose your photo and give it a whirl! Simply follow the app instructions, place your phone on the screen and watch the colors change on the Polaroid button. Remove your phone, and wait for your photo to develop!
As I mentioned, there is a variety of settings — my favorite is the option to create a Polaroid collage. This is where you have up to nine prints of one image, so you can lay out the photos side-by-side to create the ultimate collage!
