Tucked away under the Pike Place Market, Red Cedar & Sage is a hidden gem that packs a yummy punch. It takes a few staircases down from the main entrance to find, but once you’re there you’ll know you’ve found the right place for great dining.
You can sit at the bar, or in the open atrium. The glass ceiling is beautiful, and decorated with pretty garlands lit up above our heads. Around the inner area are numerous pieces of neat art, all of which are also for sale!
On sunny days, the place opens up its wide windows, so you always feel relaxed during your meal. It’s an adaptable space for any time of year, but now during the summer is definitely the time to go when the temperatures are hot and you can take advantage of the plentiful natural light!
The food takes after the diverse offerings of traditional Pacific Northwest foods, from typical seafood to sandwiches to pizza. The drink menu is just as extensive, with a collection of cocktails and wines to suit your fancy. There’s even a bar menu for food if you prefer.
For the main menu, a perfect appetizer that you wouldn’t expect are the salmon sliders. But the french onion soup is just as good, and paired with some bread is a delightful opener. We love bolognese, and the meat sauce it came in was delightful. The chef’s special happened to be grilled ahi tuna, a personal favorite, but it changes every week, and is always sure to feature a dish that’s delish.
Dessert features a superb creme brulee, but the standout was the owner’s recommendation the carrot cake. The icing exceeded our expectations and made it the unexpected hit of the night! A perfect way to cap off our visit.
Red Cedar & Sage offers brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, all at great rates in a superb location. The specials will change according to the chef’s tastes, so check them out as the summer goes on and enjoy a great meal while the sun is out.
