Opening Night for Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field is Thursday, March 29, against the Cleveland Indians (7:10 p.m. start). The game will be carried live on ROOT SPORTS Northwest and the Mariners Radio Network as well as ESPN as part of the network’s Opening Day coverage.
After an off-day on Friday, March 30, the Mariners opening series with the Indians resumes on Saturday, March 31 (1:10pm start, Robinson Canó Bobblehead Day), and wraps up on Sunday, April 1, (1:10pm start), which is Kids Opening Day, featuring Felix Hernandez T-shirts for all kids 14 and younger.
The Mariners updated schedule also includes a change to the start of the August 18 game at Safeco Field against the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch is now slated for 7:10 p.m.
The 2018 season marks the first time since 1968 that every team across the Majors will open on the same date. The 1968 campaign began on Wednesday, April 10 with each of the 20 Major League Clubs in action. Additionally, the 2018 season will mark the 12th season in history, and the first since 2011, to open on a Thursday.
