Seattle has amazing Mexican food options year round, but on May 5, some great ideas come out of the shadows. Here are some of the best Cinco de Mayo events happening in the Seattle area this Saturday.

8th Annual Taco Truck Challenge

11am-5pm, Seattle Center. Enjoy live music from Kitten, the Hollers, and Duke Evers while you lose yourself in a sea of tacos from over 20 local food trucks. Free

Tacoma Cinco de Mayo 5K

10am, Wright Park, Tacoma. Run a cross-country style 5K on Cinco de Mayo. Sign up here.

Cinco de Mayo Paint Party

2-4pm, Central District Ice Cream Company, Seattle. Grab a scoop of ice cream and make a piece of Mexico-inspired art to take home. Tickets here.

El Centro de la Raza Cinco de Mayo Celebration

11am, Centilia Cultural Center, Beacon Hill. In addition to a special Pop up Mercado, El Centro de la Raza’s Cinco de Mayo celebration will celebrate Mexican culture with live musical performances by José Iñiguez, Banda Vagos, Juan Gabriel Imitator, Los Folklore Mexicano Tonantzin, and others. Cinco de Drinko: The Day Party

1-6pm, The Factory Luxe, Seattle. Observe the holiday with day-drinking and music curated by DJ Blast. Tickets here.

Cinco de Mayo Boat Party

9:30pm, Spirit of 76, South Lake Union. Cruise along Lake Union and Lake Washington dancing to Latin music from Colombia, Central America, Mexico, Vegas, and Miami. Tickets here.

Run Snoqualmie: Cinco de Mayo

8:30am, Snoqualmie Point Park. Run an 8K or half marathon on flat, wide trails for Cinco de Mayo. Sign up here.

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake vigorously.
  2. Strain into a coupe glass.
  3. Finish with a splash of club soda.
  4. Garnish with a blackberry, orange peel, and sprig of fresh thyme.
