The Michigan favorite Christmas Lite Show ushers in the Christmas season now at the Grand Rapids Fifth Third Ballpark! Covid has put grinchy restrictions on the holidays and its usual good cheer social gatherings. Fortunately, here’s an activity that Michiganders can still enjoy with family and friends. The Christmas Lite Show has run every December for the last twenty-two years, and as they proclaim, “the show will go on!”
If you’ve never been to a holiday light event like this one, it’s an extraordinary evening of fun. All you need is a vehicle to join in. Drive up to the lot around the ballpark and make your way through the drive-thru, with dozens of holiday light displays. Some are so detailed you’ll need a minute to take it all in, which you can do at your own pace.
You’ll be treated to all kinds of Christmas imagery on your journey through the park — — the largest drive-thru lite show in Michigan. Traditional icons like Santa and Frosty the Snowman are sure bets, but keep your eyes peeled for the extraordinary range of animals that are hanging around.
This year has more animated displays than before, which should keep those who have seen the shows in years past returning for another go around. Keep the mood bright by flipping the radio to sponsor station STAR 105.7, and enjoy the lights with a pitch-perfect holiday-themed soundtrack.
If you’re interested in an open kind of experience, the Memory Lane Train is available for rent. Capable of seating over 20 adults, you can rent a row at a time or the whole train if you are inclined. The train has an open top and offers guests an unobstructed view of all ornaments around the lot. If you don’t have the luxury of a sunroof in your own vehicle, it’s quite the trip!
