Wild Waves Fright Fest

Fall is in the air, which means it’s Halloween time and Wild Waves Fright Fest is in full swing! Wild Waves Theme Park located off I-5 in Federal Way, knows how to keep the ghouls, witches and tricksters entertained. Fright Fest kicked off last weekend and brings a Halloween experience to remember for all ages.

The largest Halloween celebration in the Seattle area boasts three ultra-scary haunted attractions, and new for 2019, SCARE-a-oke Nights. Event-goers can expect to be amazed, thrilled, and spooked as the park is decorated to perfection with foggy walkways, creepy characters, rides in the dark, and haunted houses. It’ll leave you sleeping with the lights on!

During the day, from noon to 6pm on weekends, little goblins can enjoy Booville, a scare-free area located inside Kiddie Land featuring Halloween and Fall type attractions for youngsters under 12.

Some of our favorites included finding our way around the hay maze, which is decorated in cobwebs, pumpkins and giant spiders! The games and theme park rides were also quite adventurous and a blast for the kiddos. For the games it was a variety of carnival type games, decked out in Halloween decor, plus they can go home with neat prizes like spider rings, tattoos, and stickers.

The rides inside Kiddle Land were perfect for younger ages, while larger rides, like the Ring of Fire roller coaster happened outside to entertain the teens and adults. Booville also has character special appearances, magic shows, and an arts & crafts section.

But beware, as Wild Waves Fright Fest transitions from family friendly to Fright by Night after 6pm. Those willing to stay for the real scare to face the haunted houses and masked ghouls have their shot when the doors to these attractions open at 7pm, Friday through Sunday.

Here is a sneak-peek of what to expect out of these extreme haunted attractions:

  • The Chamber of Souls is their traditional haunted house, and features blood, gore, and bone-chilling scares. The use of strobe lights really adds an extra effect for a good shock. Those who dare will maneuver through medical mishaps, corpses, and a zombie apocalypse.
  • Camp Whispering Pines was probably the most popular attraction and features a loop trail that is riddled with slaughtered campers that checked in, but never checked out. You will run into tortured camp counselors and campers that will guide your experience.
  • The Playground was probably our favorite and is such a unique twist to the haunted house. It used neon 3D paint and glasses where guests journey through this black light haunted FUNhouse. Be sure to watch out for creepy carnies and clowns!
